The staff did a great job for us, the only detail is that The Franklin does not accept credit cards. Everyone enjoyed having a different menu and food. The group consensus was that we should move around to different restaurants. Clark Speicher has secured the speaker for the Spring Fling. Tony Kimball has arranged the menu at The Beeches for 22 April. Dana Roecker commented that the new MOAA listing of members in our area was received from national. Another source for new members is through our new contacts at Friends of the Utica Armory. Joe Maurer and Bill Gray will represent GRUC-MOAA next Tuesday at Congressman Hanna’s Veterans Affairs meeting in Utica. Rep. Hanna feels betrayed and ‘let down’ especially after decades of repeated pronouncements about ‘free medical care’ for Veterans and Active Duty military. The intent to close the gap between civilian and veteran’s health care costs is depressing to say the least given the nature of sacrifices over the length of a military career. Brian Burke was recognized for representing GRUC and handing out the three MOAA trophies at the Proctor Drill Meet. Rob Piper gave a great briefing about the Proctor NJROTC cadets, their successes and leadership within the school community. Fred Wieners emphasized how important our financial support for all three programs is. The JROTC programs are the Chapter's claim to fame with the greatest value in return, our kids future.
